In Virginia you first become licensed as a salesperson and you will need to work under the supervision of a real estate broker/company until such time you are in the business for 3 years, have completed 180 more hours of Broker approved education and passed a Brokers licensing exam. The company you choose is very important and you should explore which company is best suited to your goals. If you are interested in selling real estate, then most salespersons will be on a commission pay arrangement therefore both you and the company are invested in your success. The more you sell the more you and the company makes.
